What we agreed to write about was 'Clinically Applied Anthropology'. Much of what we were doing and certainly much of the relevant literature was applied anthropology. And our target group was composed-mostly of clinicians. The utility of the term became apparent after when another set of anthropologists began to discuss 'ainical Brand: Springer Netherlands. Applied anthropology is most frequently seen in public policy contexts, with anthropologists advising federal, provincial, municipal, and First Nations governments. Yet there is a growing use of applied anthropology in private sectors, such as with immigrant aid societies, multicultural associations, United Way agencies, and overseas.
